Addictions Psychiatric evaluations at the Center for medicine and Psychiatry are characterized by dual approach, assessing the psychiatric and medical implications of the disorder.
The Center for medicine and Psychiatry, in collaboration with the Ten Broeck Hospital provides the full range of treatment modalities including:
Outpatient drug and alcohol
Partial hospitalization for drug and alcohol treatment
Intensive inpatient drug and alcohol treatment based on the patient's needs and appropriate authorization.
After an initial evaluation, the case is discussed with a Psychiatrist and the patient is referred to the most appropriate level of care.
Most individuals that suffer from an addiction to Alcohol Cocaine, Heroin, marijuana or any of the other illicit drugs are usually evaluated at the offices of the Center for Medicine and Psychiatry or by the Emergency Evaluation team at River Point Hospital.
Chemically dependent individuals may require two or three days of intensive inpatient detoxification with an intensive outpatient and long-term rehabilitation for the following addictions:
Alcohol
Sedative-Hypnotics (Valium, Xanax, Barbiturates, Ativan, etc.)
Opioids (Heroin, Oxycontin, Morphine, Methadone, etc.)
Stimulants (Cocaine, Crack, Amphetamine, Crank)
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Hallucinogens (LSD, "acid")
Inhalants (glue, dry cleaning fluids, polish removers, paint removers and thinners, poppers, etc.)
Steroids (Anabolic-androgenic steroids used to enhance performance).
